I have never seen so much misinformation in on place! The Veyron does not have a 500hp setting, that's a myth, the 2nd key adjusts aerodynamics alone making it better for racing, the primary key by itself sets it for daily driving. Also the GTR in question is a P800, supposedly around 823HP, but I have read a lower of 740 to the wheels. Still, if you equate out the power/weight ratios that's 0.238 HP/Lb, and for the GTR .211, a pretty close match by any respects. Then take into account that the GTR likely went on a diet, most serious GTR drivers will shed weight, because 3800lb is a bit chubby for track car. Then take into account the transmission, the Veyron has zero mods, I can almost guarantee that. The GTR trans is pretty weak even at full stock, what you're looking at is a car with a highly modified drivetrain. Considering this person had the 19 grand to blow on a modified engine, there is no way they forgot the transmission along the way. Especially since the SR850 is just 3,000 more! That amount was saved to put the power to the ground. What you are looking at is a a machine that has been carefully calculated for optimum results. In a way that gives an edge to the GTR, as the driver and his tuner have spend hours upon hour working directly with his car. The Veyon on the other hand is a one-shot buy, and even with 7-figure price tag you get NO options to upgrade the internals; and most that have that kind of money liquid are doubtful to even care enough to threaten the livelihood of their million dollar baby. The Veyon is clean and simple, just a car designed to be exclusive, exotic, fast and most of a dependable for decades upon decades. This means that Veyron's trans is constantly working to keep max power to the ground WHILE managing the torque to prevent a really nasty, expensive situation from arising. The GTR never really cared, look at the the customer complaints about detonated transmissions, given that credence or not the volume does insinuate credential. Basically if you assume that in terms of HP/lb they are evenly match one can also assume that the Veryon is held back by it's internal management system, while in the P800 the driver is complete responsible, that entire engine/drivetrain could blow if he is even a a split-second off. Now go back an look at this video, the match was dead on, that is until the GTR's turbos hit full spool. Only an uninformed fool would argue the results.
